Smoke and carbon-monoxide detectors are safety devices with requirements that depend on the property, device type and current rules. Battery units, plug-in products and hardwired interconnected detectors are not the same installation.
NY-GoodHome accepts compatible detector installation requests in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with the device model, power type and photos of existing detector locations.
Detector Type and Power Source
Smoke, carbon-monoxide and combination devices can be battery-powered or connected to building wiring. Hardwired/interconnected systems involve regulated electrical work and must be handled within appropriate licensed scope.
The replacement product should be compatible with the intended location and existing system.
Location and Manufacturer Guidance
Placement should follow current applicable rules and the manufacturer instructions. NY-GoodHome does not provide blanket code certification or legal advice through this page.
For NYC requirements, current official guidance should be checked when the public page is finalized and again before deployment if regulations have changed.
Existing System vs New Location
Replacing a compatible battery device is different from adding new hardwired detectors or changing interconnection. New electrical work should be identified separately.
If the same project also includes General Electrical Services or Smart Home Security & Lock Installation, mention those needs up front so the work can be coordinated without mixing the scopes.
