A handrail is a support element intended to be grasped while moving through stairs, halls or entries. The rail length, mounting surface and connection points matter more than simply choosing a finish.
NY-GoodHome handles conventional handrail installation requests in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with photos of the stairs or wall and the rail product if selected.
Wall-Mounted or Post-Mounted?
A wall-mounted handrail relies on secure brackets and suitable backing or masonry. A post-supported exterior rail can involve steps, landings and base attachment.
Those systems should be identified before hardware is selected.
Interior vs Exterior Conditions
Exterior rails are exposed to weather and can use different materials and fasteners from interior wood or metal rails. The condition of the stair or landing also matters.
If the stairs themselves are damaged, use Stair Installation & Repair rather than attaching a new rail to a failing base.
Handrail vs Glass Railing
A conventional support handrail is not the same as a glass guard/railing system. Glass Railings belongs to the primary Architectural Glass layer and has structural/code requirements of its own.
Compliance Boundary
NY-GoodHome does not make a blanket statement that every handrail installation satisfies all code or accessibility requirements. Project-specific requirements should be confirmed where formal compliance is needed.
