Interior trim frames openings and finishes transitions that remain visible every day. Door casing, window casing and decorative moldings need to work with existing walls, jambs and nearby surfaces, especially when the project is a repair instead of a completely new room.
NY-GoodHome provides interior trim installation and repair in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with wide photos and close views of the trim profile.
Casing, Trim and Decorative Moldings
This page covers general interior casing and trim that is not better served by the dedicated baseboard, crown-molding or wainscoting pages. That can include door and window casing, small decorative moldings and replacement of damaged trim sections.
The exact profile matters when new material has to meet existing trim. Width, thickness, reveal and shape should be identified before cutting replacement pieces.
Joints, Corners and Irregular Openings
Trim is installed against real walls and openings, which may not be perfectly square. Door jambs, window returns and old plaster can create small variations that need to be handled in the fit rather than ignored.
If the underlying wall or frame is badly damaged, repair that substrate before expecting trim to hide the problem.
Finish Preparation
Fastener points and seams can be prepared for paint or another finish, but painting is not automatically included. If the room is being repainted, coordinate the trim work with the Interior Painting service.
