Floating, Bracket or Track Shelving?
Floating shelves often hide their support inside or behind the shelf. Bracket shelves expose the support. Track systems use vertical standards or rails and can make future shelf adjustment easier.
Each type has different fastener and layout requirements. Send the manufacturer hardware and instructions if they came with the product.
Wall Type and Intended Use
A shelf for light decor and a shelf expected to hold heavy books are not the same mounting problem. The product’s load guidance and the available wall support should be considered together.
