Door hardware can often be replaced without replacing the door, but the new handle, lever or hinge still has to match the existing door preparation and frame conditions.
NY-GoodHome handles ordinary residential door-hardware installation in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with photos of the door edge, existing hardware and new product.
Handles, Levers, Hinges and Latches
A knob or lever depends on bore size, backset and latch position. Hinges affect door alignment. Strike plates control how the latch meets the frame.
If the door is sagging, rubbing or out of square, a hardware swap may not be the whole solution. The General Door Installation & Repair page covers broader door operation.
Existing Prep and Compatibility
A replacement product should match the existing holes whenever possible. Hardware that needs new drilling or a different latch location can change the scope.
Smart locks introduce app, battery and compatibility questions and belong on the Smart Home Security & Lock page when the electronic device is the main project.
Security and Commercial Hardware Boundaries
This page does not claim locksmith, commercial access-control, fire-door or high-security system work. Those are separate specialty scopes.
