True linoleum is a different resilient material from generic vinyl, even though the names are sometimes used interchangeably in conversation. The product format and substrate requirements should be confirmed before installation.
NY-GoodHome accepts linoleum-flooring requests in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with the product information, room photos and existing floor condition.
Is It Linoleum or Vinyl?
The product label or manufacturer information is the best way to identify the material. If the selected flooring is LVP, LVT or sheet vinyl, use the Vinyl Flooring page.
Keeping the materials separate allows adhesive, seam and preparation requirements to follow the actual product.
Smooth Substrate and Seams
Sheet and tile linoleum need a stable, smooth substrate because irregularities can telegraph through the finished surface. Existing flooring, patching and adhesive conditions should be evaluated before installation.
Sheet seams and edges should follow the product system rather than be treated like floating click joints.
Repair and Matching
Localized damage can sometimes be repaired when matching material is available. Old flooring can be difficult to match exactly in color or pattern.
Unknown legacy flooring or adhesive can also create hazardous-material questions; NY-GoodHome does not claim asbestos testing or remediation through this page.
