Wood floors can be solid, engineered or parquet, and those systems use different installation and repair methods. The existing substrate, moisture conditions and product dimensions should be reviewed before work begins.
NY-GoodHome accepts wood-flooring installation and repair requests in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with floor photos, product information and approximate area.
Solid, Engineered or Parquet?
Solid wood can use fastening systems that differ from floating or glued engineered products. Parquet introduces pattern and piece orientation.
The product specification should guide installation rather than relying on one generic “hardwood” method.
Subfloor and Moisture
The substrate needs to be suitable for the selected floor. Movement, moisture or major unevenness can create problems that surface replacement alone does not solve.
Acclimation and moisture requirements should follow the manufacturer and actual site conditions.
Local Repair and Matching
Replacing damaged boards depends on access and matching material. Old wood can change color over time, so a replacement board may not match the surrounding floor exactly.
Sanding, refinishing and historic floor restoration are related but separate specialties and are not automatically included in this page.
