Switch and dimmer work looks simple from the wall plate, but the circuit configuration behind it can change the job. Standard switches, multi-way controls, smart dimmers and LED-compatible dimmers have different wiring and device requirements.
NY-GoodHome accepts switch and dimmer requests in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with device information and photos of the existing controls.
Standard, Dimmer or Smart Control?
A like-for-like switch replacement is different from adding dimming or smart control. The new device should be compatible with the fixture, load and existing circuit.
Smart controls may also require a neutral conductor, hub or network connection depending on the product.
Single-Pole and Multi-Way Locations
One light controlled from one location is different from three-way or other multi-location switching. The existing wiring should be understood before a replacement control is selected.
NY-GoodHome does not use this page to claim rewiring or electrical troubleshooting beyond verified licensed scope.
Flicker, Buzz or Failed Controls
Flicker and buzz can be caused by incompatibility between a dimmer and LED driver, but they can also indicate other electrical conditions. A device should not be replaced blindly when the underlying problem is unclear.
