A base or foundation should be selected from the structure it supports, the manufacturer requirements and the site. A small shed may use one approved base system while a permanent pavilion can require a very different structural foundation.
NY-GoodHome accepts foundation requests for outdoor structures in Brooklyn and New York City for scope review. Call (223) 226-1828 with the exact structure, footprint and site photos.
What Structure Needs the Base?
The first requirement should come from the shed, gazebo, pergola, pavilion or other structure. Weight, post locations, anchoring and intended permanence all affect the base.
Do not build a generic pad before checking what the manufacturer or design requires.
Base Types and Site Conditions
Concrete, pavers, gravel systems and other bases each depend on levelness, drainage and soil/site conditions. Excavation and grading can become significant site work.
NY-GoodHome does not claim engineering, geotechnical review or permit handling through this page.
Structural Boundary
Large permanent foundations or load-bearing footings may require engineered details and inspections. Those requirements should be resolved before installation rather than hidden inside a “foundation” service label.
