Dining rooms often combine finish work with decorative carpentry and lighting. A coordinated project can involve walls, paint or wallpaper, flooring, baseboards, wainscoting and a new fixture without changing the room structure.
NY-GoodHome handles dining-room remodeling and repair requests in Brooklyn and New York City. Call (223) 226-1828 with room photos and the elements you want to update.
Walls and Finish
Paint, wallpaper and wall repairs should follow the actual surface condition. If wallpaper is being removed, allow for the possibility that the wall will need repair before painting.
Flooring and Trim
New flooring can change baseboard and transition details. Wainscoting or decorative trim should be laid out around doors, windows, outlets and furniture height.
Lighting and Storage
A new chandelier or fixture can change the room character, but electrical requirements need to be confirmed. Built-in or made-to-measure storage belongs on the Custom Shelving & Bookcase page when that is the main carpentry project.
Structural Changes
Opening the room to a kitchen or changing load-bearing walls is not routine dining-room repair and requires broader structural/remodeling review.
